Description:
Join us for an informative and inspiring event as we explore the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and strategies for prevention through the Brave fACEs initiative. Launched in 2023, Brave fACEs focuses on raising awareness, providing education, and offering technical assistance to prevent and respond to the complex trauma experienced during childhood. By leaning on groundbreaking research from Kaiser Permanente and the CDC, Brave fACEs is dedicated to implementing strategies that address the root causes of trauma and positively impact social determinants of health.

This training will provide an overview of ACEs, highlighting how we can break generational cycles of trauma, promote healing, and build resilience in the Lincoln community. Our call to action focuses on empowering parents, caregivers, medical and mental health providers, early childhood educators, and community partners to become ACEs aware and equipped to respond effectively to trauma.

As part of this event, we will also be screening the powerful documentary, RESILIENCE: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope. This one-hour film chronicles the birth of a movement among healthcare professionals, educators, and community leaders who are using cutting-edge brain science to disrupt the cycles of violence, addiction, and disease that stem from childhood trauma.

Through this event, you will gain valuable insights into how childhood experiences shape long-term health and behavior, and how we can work together to prevent future trauma by promoting healing and resilience.

Objectives:
-Understand the impact of childhood adversity
-Learn about brain science in action
-Discuss local initiatives

Audience:
This event is ideal for community members, healthcare professionals, educators, social workers, and anyone interested in understanding the science of resilience and efforts to address childhood toxic stress.
